The Central Kalahari Game Reserve, dominating Botswana at 5 million hectares, is a unique Africa safari reserve located at the heart of the Kalahari Desert.
As one of the biggest protected areas in all of Africa, it’s populated with a large number of gemsbok, springbok and wildebeest. Despite the lack of some of the larger mammals such as Elephant, Hippo and Buffalo, the area is known for other predators such as the impressive black-maned lions, cheetahs, jackals, leopard, hyenas, wild dog and many others. Having a habitat of wide open pans makes this reserve one of the best places for seeing cheetah in Botswana.
It is a place where true openness prevails and where the sky unfolds with endless horizons in the distance, a place where you can hear total silence during the night between the distant roars of lion.
Kwando Tau Pan, the first safari camp to be built in the CKGR, is a model of conservation sensitivity and offering 9 environmentally adapted thatched units on raised decks with incredible views from the ridge of an ancient sand dune.
