It is situated close to the source of the Savute Channel on Osprey Lagoon, one of the many lagoons within the Linyanti Swamp system, and between two elephant ‘corridors’ – all of which makes for a plethora of wildlife on game drives along the Savute.
Its ten large, luxuriously appointed tented rooms are raised off the ground on polished wooden decks. They are set beneath cool thatched roofing with canvas walls, allowing guests to enjoy the night sounds of Africa in security and comfort. The bathroom facilities are en-suite, and each room also features an outside shower, perfect for showering under the stars at the end of an adventurous day.
The raised communal area is spacious and comfortable. It is used for dining, socializing and relaxing, and features a fireplace, well-stocked bar and plunge pool to aid in these pursuits. The reference library is a popular feature for perusing the intricacies of the Linyanti eco-system, but often the best way to discover its magic is to settle into a comfortable armchair and spend an entire afternoon visually imbibing the intoxicating wildness surrounding camp.
Activities at Duma Tau focus on the wildlife of the area, with day and night game drives offering fabulous opportunities to view, firsthand and at close range, Africa’s spectrum of diurnal and nocturnal creatures. Nature walks allow for closer inspection of some of the smaller aspects of the eco-system, while the camp’s pontoon facilitates access to the Linyanti River, and a different perspective on animals as they come to the river to drink.
Duma Tau is a great camp set on one of Botswana’s most extensive and game-rich private concessions. It enjoys a fabulous location, offering the best of both the dry Savuti Channel, and the wetlands surrounding the Linyanti River, while the camp itself provides all the comforts and features that anyone could ask for combined with the adventure of a tented camp experience.
