The camp’s nine luxurious tents (including one family unit) each boast a large bedroom area and lounge leading out onto a veranda with a private plunge pool and thatched sala from which to soak up the gorgeous views and possibly even spot elephant crossing the channel. The spacious en-suite bathrooms have double showers and hand-basins, as well as an outdoor shower. The rooms are graciously appointed with crisp white linens juxtaposed against dark polished hardwood, sliding screened walls with brass hardware, and smooth leather furnishings accentuated with handwoven textiles in earthen tones.
The spacious main area comprises a lounge, dining room and a convivial bar beautifully set on expansive raised decks. There is also a pool and an open-air ‘kgotla’ for evening dining under the stars.
Being located on a private reserve adjoining Chobe National Park, King’s Pool enjoys all the great game-viewing of Chobe without the restrictive rules of the Park. The camp offers guided game-drives in open safari vehicles, as well as night-drives, and nature walks. Apart from the Reserve’s enormous elephant population, there are also very good concentrations of general plains game, and all the major predators are resident and regularly sighted, including lion, leopard, cheetah, and wild dogs.
In addition there are numerous hides on the reserve, where guests can sit in silence to observe and photograph animals. Particularly noteworthy is an underground hide, which provides a unique ‘ground level’ view of passing animals. Another firm favorite at King’s Pool is the double decker boat which cruises the Linyanti River (water levels permitting), again offering a different perspective on game-viewing and enjoying the wilderness setting.
